Coacervate Based Pathogen Detection

Our mission is to prevent pathogens from spreading by delivering an on-site test that is low-priced, easy-to-handle, and reliable.

The challenge

The challenge we need to address is to supply on-site tests for the agricultural market, which are low-priced, easy-to-handle, and reliable. Currently, only limited on-site tests are available, which are often expensive, complicated, and unreliable. An alternative is the standard PCR-test which can be performed in the laboratory. While this test is reliable, it often expensive. The cost thereof not only rise from logistics but also trained personal. Therefore, there is a need for a new test, more specifically, an on-site test. With our new technology, this need can be fulfilled; thus, preventing the pathogens from spreading.

The solution

We propose an on-site test kit that can be performed by a person unskilled in the art. The test is designed to binary detect viruses and bacteria on-site, with just the naked eye. The cost of one test will be around one euro. It performs on a single virus or bacteria or a multiplex combination thereof. The test detects both RNA and DNA, where no reverse transcriptase is necessary. Concluding, when it is a matter of life or death, spreading or suppressing, our technology proves to be a low-priced, easy-to-handle, and reliable on-site test solution for pathogen detection.
