Plant growth analysis for growing conditions optimization

The challenge

With this project I hope to address three problems; often many acres of crops need to be destroyed to prevent the spread of diseases, the (environmental) cost of producing non-local food is very high and harvest failure causes world wide famine, illness and poverty every day.

The solution

Robots could be deployed, both out in the field or inside greenhouses, to retrieve data from crops, such as growth rate, soil acidity, mineral contents, leaf appearance, etc.. This information could then, for example, be used to determine the optimal growing conditions, in order to save up energy in greenhouse systems, or to detect diseases much quicker in the field.


The mission is to reduce environmental impact and cost of producing food.
