The challenge

The transition to sustainable mobility faces major obstacles, especially in the heavy transport sector. Current electric solutions, such as batteries, are often impractical for heavy-duty vehicles due to their limited range and long charging times. Additionally, hydrogen technology struggles with inefficiency and limited infrastructure, hindering large-scale adoption. The industry needs a powerful, efficient, and sustainable propulsion system that can be seamlessly integrated into existing transport and industrial networks.

The solution

E2 Power Systems is developing the E2 Engine, an innovative hydrogen combustion engine that utilizes turbomachinery instead of traditional pistons. This enables a thermodynamic efficiency of at least 60%, surpassing existing hydrogen combustion engines. By using pure oxygen as input, NOx emissions are minimized, while the system ensures a constant and reliable power source. This technology provides a direct, sustainable replacement for conventional combustion engines, avoiding the downsides of battery-electric alternatives.
