Mission

This initiative is all about transforming waste into joy by creating sustainable, culturally rich games. By repurposing materials like recycled coffee and tea waste, it offers a creative way to reduce environmental impact while fostering meaningful social connections. The goal is simple yet powerful: to bring people together through play, promote sustainability, and celebrate cultural traditions in a fun and engaging way.

The challenge

Every day, vast amounts of waste—coffee grounds, tea leaves, and other materials—are discarded without a second thought. At the same time, traditional games that have been played for generations risk being forgotten or remain unknown to new audiences. Many social gatherings revolve around mainstream card games, leaving little room for the rich diversity of games from different cultures. This initiative sees an opportunity to address both challenges at once: reducing waste while introducing more people to unique and meaningful games.

The solution

By designing and producing games from repurposed waste materials, this initiative merges sustainability with entertainment in an innovative way. The first concept is a reimagined version of Majiang—an iconic game traditionally made from stone—now crafted from recycled coffee or tea waste. This not only gives discarded materials a new life but also brings a beloved game to new communities. Beyond Majiang, the vision extends to creating a variety of sustainable, low-cost games that encourage people to gather, play, and experience different cultural traditions. The goal is to make sustainability tangible and enjoyable, proving that waste can be turned into something meaningful. By spreading awareness through play, this initiative aims to inspire more people to think creatively about sustainability while enjoying the universal joy of games.
