The challenge

Current urban exploration tools are either uninspiring or rely on commercialized, "grindy" AR mechanics that ignore local culture. This leaves solo and group explorers without a meaningful reason to engage with their surroundings. Urban Explorer fills this void by gamifying the discovery of local history and artisanal businesses. We address the lack of visibility for smaller cities and "mom-and-pop" shops, transforming routine walks into rewarding quests. By replacing forced social raids with organic, curiosity-driven challenges, we help users reclaim their neighborhoods as personal playgrounds of cultural discovery.

The solution

Our solution is to build a privacy-first mobile experience that transforms physical movement into a rewarding "fog-of-war" discovery game. As users walk, run, or cycle, they uncover hidden map tiles and earn XP by interacting with curated landmarks, from historic districts to artisanal local businesses. To maintain fair play, our proprietary motion-detection system disables rewards at higher speeds. Built with a decentralized data approach, we prioritize user anonymity by processing only aggregated progress. This creates a secure, high-fidelity playground where routine strolls become meaningful quests, putting overlooked local culture back on the map.
