Mission

Mission To revolutionize air cargo transport by creating a long-endurance, zero-emission hydrogen-powered blimp that can carry large payloads over long distances more sustainably and cost-effectively than conventional airplanes, ships, or trucks.

The challenge

Current air and ground freight systems use fossil fuels that create a lot of greenhouse gases and are expensive. Planes and trucks burn fuel quickly and can’t fly long distances without refueling. This makes transporting heavy cargo over long distances costly and bad for the climate, and current electric systems still struggle to match the range needed for large freight.

The solution

A hydrogen-powered blimp uses hydrogen gas to stay buoyant and hydrogen fuel cells to produce clean electricity for engines. Because the blimp floats with lighter-than-air hydrogen it needs much less energy to stay in the sky. Hydrogen fuel cells convert hydrogen into electricity without releasing CO₂, which makes the flight zero-emission. This design could carry large loads far longer than conventional cargo aircraft and at lower operating costs. Technologies like the hydrogen-powered H2 Clipper show how airships can transport heavy payloads across continents more efficiently and cleanly than traditional methods.
